The mainline oxford shoe is quite simply the most elegant and classic shoe design available.

Some believe that the oxford shoe was developed by students of the famous university during the early 19th century whilst others believe that this shoe design has its roots in celtic cultures – in fact oxfords are sometimes referred to as “balmorals” – a nod to Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

The main feature of an Oxford shoe is found within it’s “closed-lacing” method – the eyelets are sewn directly onto the rear quarters which are sewn together at the bottom. This makes the oxford shoe snug fitting and formal in appearance.

Our range of mainline oxford shoes have a toe-cap and are also known as cap-toe oxfords. The toe-cap can be completely plain or can be adorned with decorative punching, known as a medallion.

Our large range of mainline materials allow great scope for contrasts – contrasting colours or contrasting materials. Plain leather can be mixed with a grained leather to provide a subtle contrast as seen on our Steerforth goodyear welted oxford or perhaps a bolder contrast is required as found on the flannel and leather Dombey model.

The range shown above is only a selection of what is possible with Civardi Shoes. All Civardi designs can be fully customised by you simply by choosing the “customise & order” option.

So, please have fun experimenting with each design until you have created your own unique mainline oxford shoes – our artisan craftsmen will bring your vision to life!
