The oxford shoe is generally regarded as being one of the most formal styles of men’s footwear and it suits a patina leather finish extremely well.

Some believe that the oxford shoe was developed by students of the famous university during the early 19th century whilst others believe that this shoe design has its roots in celtic cultures – in fact oxfords are sometimes referred to as “balmorals” – a nod to Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

The main feature of an Oxford shoe is found within it’s “closed-lacing” method – the eyelets are sewn directly onto the rear quarters which are sewn together at the bottom. This makes the oxford shoe snug fitting and formal in appearance.

Our range of patina oxford shoes have a toe-cap and are also known as cap-toe oxfords. The toe-cap can be completely plain or can be adorned with decorative punching, known as a medallion.

As with all of our dress shoe styles, the oxford can be produced with either a blake-stitched or a goodyear-welted construction.

The full range of our patina colours and patterns can be utilised in our oxford shoes. Solid colors such as the stunning dark blue Allen are always popular but feel free to experiment with contrasting two tone designs like the Blake.
